While runway shows are an essential ingredient to any fashion festival, I like to scratch the surface by digging deeper to find some unique exhibitions, events and forums to attend and this years cultural program offers just that; a smorgasbord of choice! Here are my Top 5 Highlights!
1. iSpyStyle Fashion Career Workshops – (My event, so of course I think it’s fab!) If you want to be the next Marc Jacobs or Rachel Zoe and a career in the fashion industry is a must for you than you can’t afford to miss this workshop! Listen to an expert panel giving tips on resumes, work experience and networking from being a designer, stylist, visual merchandiser, writer, publicist and event producer.

2. Penthouse Mouse – Do not miss this event if you love your fashion fused with music and art! Penthouse Mouse has been going for 4 years and has built quite the name for it-self in promoting Australian labels in a unique retail experience, plus they have great parties!

3. National Gallery of Victoria presents FLOORTALK: ROMANCE WAS BORN
Winners of last year’s LMFF Designer award the eclectic and creative duo, Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett will discuss the inspirations and unique approach to design. Worth attending just to see what they wear!

4. The Patsyfox Drawing Salon – Have you always wanted to learn how to be a fashion illustrator? The unique and talented Angie Réhe (creator of the Patsyfox illustrated blog) is holding classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced artists.

5. ACMI presents Jean Paul Gaultier on Film – Each year ACMI have a stand out fashion film/documentary, as part of LMFF and this year is no exception. A series of documentary style films are presented exploring the creative imagination of JPG discovering the legend behind the label.
